On the palm leaf of a long-time yoga student, Q., was written the information that he should bring palm leaf reading to the world.
Can such a thing exist? I was amazed! Q. recognized his task and, together with his partner Emese, founded the "Indian Palm Leaf Reading Institute," which organizes palm leaf readings professionally and makes them available online for everyone. He told me about it during a conversation. I was very curious and immediately looked for information and videos to see how it works. He offered to train me for the role of moderator. A moderator is someone who supports the so-called "seeker" through the whole process. I agreed. "It's not rocket science," he said with a grin and soon threw me in at the deep end... My first reading moderation with him in the background as supervisor felt like my first yoga class to teach: my heart was pounding in my throat, I was so excited.
Even today, my heart still beats a little faster every time. Will the participants' internet connection work out OK? Will we find the palm leaf? I love it. I love the role of moderator, which isn't really a "role" but a wonderful task in which I can just be who I am and do what I love to do: accompany people. It's always a new experience to be part of a reading and help other people to have a better life.
At the end of July, the time had come for me - I wanted to see if there was a palm leaf for me too. And yes, there was one. And despite the many readings that I had been able to accompany before, my own reading is something completely different, something special.
Q. accompanied me as a moderator during my reading and I secretly sent out to the universe a wish to have the reading with my "favorite team" and let it go. I thought that if it was possible to request a parking space, then maybe it would work in this case too! I was so overwhelmed that on the other side, in the Indian office in Chidabaram, this very team was waiting for my reading. (Note: like everywhere else, there is a duty roster there. As a moderator, however, you don't know what it is. You only know which team members you are working with when the online connection is established and you see each other.) I was so overwhelmed that I almost started to cry. The universe had reacted, as it always does. It was so nice to see the smiles of my colleagues, because they didn't know that it was my reading either. They only had my thumbprint - you'll read more about that later. I think you can imagine how incredibly touching this whole process was for me at the start . . .
What is behind this process and how does it work?
Palm leaf reading is also referred to as Nadi Astrology or Soul Astrology. Legend has it that 2000 to 3000 years ago the great sages, the so-called Maharishis, wrote messages on palm leaves for millions of souls, which were to be read exactly when they were supposed to receive information about their life from the Akashic Records - not a day earlier or later. They wrote these messages on dry palm leaves because there was no other way to preserve this information.

The leaves were bundled together and kept in archives and libraries in Tamil Nadu (the southernmost state of India). They are written in Old Tamil, also called Grantha. This language is said to be even older than Sanskrit. It is a sound-based language written in symbols and a poetic form - similar to Mandarin Chinese - because that is the only way all the information can fit on this small sheet. (see picture above; source: Indian Palm Leaf Reading Institute). Incredible, isn't it?
There is no school or course of study to learn the art of palm leaf reading. You have to find a guru who is willing to share his knowledge. Usually you are born into such a dynasty and the knowledge is passed down from generation to generation. The training to become a reader takes five to seven years. You not only have to master ancient Tamil but also Vedic astrology, numerology, Ayurveda, gemology, the five-element theory and also the identification of thumb prints.
Your thumbprint - the genetic imprint of your soul
In order to find the seeker's personal palm leaf, the palm leaf reader needs your thumbprint. He then goes on a search for a so-called bundle that contains the thumbprint. All palm leaves in a bundle correspond to the same soul family, and yet you don't know each other and aren't related. Can you feel the "magic" that lies within this? How wonderful just the thought that there is a soul family, each of whom has a very similar life course to yours.
In order to find your personal palm leaf from the bundle, you need the so-called "matching process", an information comparison. The reader reads out from the palm leaf what seems important to him at that moment and the searcher only answers yes or no, depending on whether the statement is true or not. The respective leaf is put aside as soon as a statement is not true. A palm leaf reading can only take place when all statements are answered with "yes". Otherwise it is not your leaf. You also have to know that the palm leaf reader has no information about you, with the exception of your thumb print and your gender, which can be identified by the thumb print. Women give their left thumb print to search for the leaf, men give their right thumb print.
The goosebumps moment
The reader reads out your name, the names of your parents, your date of birth, the time of birth and the day of the week you were born. In many cases it identifies the name of your current partner or ex-partner, tells you how many children you have including their gender, and states the number of siblings you have and their gender. All of this is written on a palm leaf that was written for you thousands of years ago and for this exact moment in time! At this moment there is no longer any doubt that it is your leaf. Sounds unbelievable? It is. It is a moment that can give you goosebumps or even teary eyes. It is simply indescribable and unique.
After the successful matching, the real part begins: reading the palm leaf. At the beginning, you learn the name of the Maharshi who wrote your palm leaf and which deity he meditated on to receive this power. Then the name of your thumbprint is explained to you. It forms the basis and helps you to understand why things in your life are the way they are. All I can say is that the name of my thumbprint hits the nail on the head and when I heard that it consists of four parts, which is quite rare, I was incredibly touched, especially because it is such a beautiful name and I can really identify with it: Oru Mani - Vari Vatta - Ven Malar - Vaguda. However, the explanation would go beyond the scope here.
A thumbprint also has energy points, usually three - they represent the whole of your life. This includes family life, health, money, relationships and so on. The energy points can be open, in which case everything is going well. Or they can be a little or completely blocked. As for my energy points, I still have a lot of work to do!
The good news
A palm leaf reading offers you the opportunity to invite better energies into your life in order to remove blockages and improve your life overall. During the reading you will learn about the good, the less good and also the very bad things. Nothing is left out. It is up to you to use the good energies. The less good ones can be raised with the help of so-called poojas. Poojas are exercises for turning the energies. It is important to remember that we always have free will and nothing is set in stone. We shape our own lives through our actions and inactions, thoughts, belief systems, . . .
For every area that has little energy or a blockage, there is a pooja written on the palm leaf. You can imagine it like a remedy on a prescription that you receive. What you do with it, i.e. whether you use the medicine or throw the prescription away, is up to you. Poojas are intended as homework after the reading. They should be done in the exact order, like medicine that you take. The palm leaf states exactly when and how often to do what in order to release existing blockages and get the energies flowing again. My "recipe" for this is a long one.
A flood of information, your life.
The reading is like a never-ending flow of information. You hear about your Vedic birth star and its properties are explained to you, which in turn say a lot about you. Vedic and Western astrology are also compared. Vedic astrology, for example, is moon-based, while in the West we use the sun as a basis. The integration of astrology into palm leaf reading is important because planets also have an influence on our lives. I also found it very interesting to learn that there are so-called shadow planets in Vedic astrology. They are only present through their energy, but can have a great impact. When we hear "Saturn," we know that it is usually an intense, challenging time. This is the case with the two shadow planets Rahu and Ketu. They let us learn and make us strong.
You will receive a reading about your entire life. It covers all areas (health, career, family, spirituality, money, . . . ). In combination with your daily energy at the time of the reading, you will receive a possible course of your life in detailed sections of two to three years, from the current point in time until either the end of life or until there is no more information written on the palm leaf. You can ask anything that you would like to know about yourself and the nucleus of your family (that is, parents, siblings, children, grandchildren, partner) and that was not already answered in the palm leaf reading or if something was unclear to you.
In case you have serious karma, there is also a karma reading afterwards in which you will learn everything about your previous incarnation. I didn't have one, although I would have been really interested to know what happened in my previous life! My small karma points have been worked off through my actions and in order to collect positive karma, I continue to serve the community.
But that's not all. You will also find out your lucky numbers, lucky days (my reading took place on one of my lucky days, by the way - what a "coincidence" . . . ), favorable directions for you, your strengthening elements, and lucky healing stones that can support you in decision-making and important moments.
And so that you don't have to write everything down during the process, you will be sent a recording of your reading so that you can watch it again at your leisure. You will also receive the chat protocol in which the translator writes down everything important.
Why did I want to have a reading myself?
It was important for me to know that I am on the right path with what I am doing and how I can support people.
Therefore, I will happily continue to accompany you with everything in my power, making your life more beautiful. And I will do so until I can no longer do it myself... I have known this intuitively for a long time - I never saw myself "retiring".
Questions
I had written down a few questions for my reading beforehand and they were all actually answered during the process. On my palm leaf there were even instructions on a diet that would support me. And I was able to learn that, according to Hindu traditions, I am living my last life on this planet, which is something to be experienced and learned. Of course, the soul can still return here if the soul's plan allows it . . . Experience shows that most people are looking for their palm leaf who are in their penultimate or last worldly life. This is why the term "seeker" is used, because the seeker wants the best possible conclusion and good karma for his earthly life in order to achieve Moksha (the pursuit of salvation).
Are you also a seeker? Do you also feel called to search for your palm leaf?

Guruthan - Acknowledgements
Guruthan is a part of the poojas and means, among other things, "showing respect and gratitude". At this point, I would like to thank my dear colleague Miruna Mihailescu, who put me in touch with our long-time yoga student Q. on this topic. (People come together through talking!) Thanks also go to the entire team at the Indian Palm Leaf Reading Institute, especially Dr. Q, who brought me onto the team and, by carrying out his task of spreading palm leaf reading, has enabled me and many others to have a reading.
Mika Nandri. (ie "thank you very much." in Tamil)
Sincerely,
